Steps 1 and 2 have given you the firm foundation you need for effective brand-building.
If you’ve completed the first two steps, your brand now has clarity and purpose—the heart of your business’s brand. People will know what your business is about and if you’ve moved them in some way (all good brands do this), they’ll be way more interested in what you have to offer.
If you haven’t done so, go back to posts 1 and 2 and complete the worksheets before you read this post.
So, what is step 3 to bringing your brand to life?
I’ll get to that but before I go any further, I want to let you know I’ve created a worksheet so you can easily follow along with this series:
For the worksheet, go to our 6 Steps to Bring Your Brand to Life Worksheets and click on “3–Brand Vision Worksheet”.
Step 3 is Defining your Brand Vision—How are you going to help your ideal customer?
Here, you develop a crystal clear vision of your brand, zero in on your uniqueness, target audience, and market position. Based on this, you start framing a story that best represents you and your business. A narrative that will help you find the right customers, lead them to you, and inspire them to action when they arrive.
You will…
- Combine “what you do” with “why you do it.”
- Express the unique identity that will become a living, breathing part of your brand.
- Define your ideal customers.
- And layout plans for the best way to reach them.
Your Brand Vision is your “genetic map.” And the best way to create it is by telling your audience how your vision will come to life.
For example, look at my steps 1, 2, and 3…
My Step 1: Clarifying my Brand’s Mission—What is my Focus?
To help small and medium-sized businesses (SMB’s) advance their brand and accelerate business growth with the combination of powerful brand positioning and a comprehensive, proven marketing system, all supported by ongoing consultation, guidance, and marketing support.
My Step 2: Giving my Brand Purpose—Why am I doing it?
I want to help SMB’s develop a clear, unique, and highly targeted brand that truly represents their business and speaks to the right prospects. And to help them create a comprehensive marketing system built to support their brand and accelerate business growth.
My ideal clients have the skills, passion, and desire to create and/or grow their business, but they need help fleshing out their vision and building a system for growth. They are looking to build a brand that truly represents what they do, why they do it, speaks to the right people, and moves the needle in their business. I help them do so.
These two steps make it easy for me to create my Brand Vision, A way for me to tell my audience exactly how I will help them.
My Step 3: Creating my Brand Vision—How will I help my ideal customer?
I do this by showing clients how to uncover their brand DNA, build a rock-solid foundation that truly defines their business, then deliver it with the most effective messaging to establish, refine, and grow their brand presence.
Our branding-first approach assures that we create a complete marketing system that truly showcases our client’s expertise, the essence of their business (why clients work with them), and speaks to the right people (their ideal client). We further support the marketing system with a story framework that enhances their position in the market, speaks to the right audience, and makes it much easier to sustain an ongoing marketing program.
I am here to be their trusted advisor, helping them navigate the sometimes complex world of brand-building. And my Define, Develop, Deliver framework is designed to help them build their unique brand and create a marketing system to support it. It’s painless. And collaborative every step of the way.
